Meet Philomena Donnelly
Philomena Donnelly known as Phil was an artist and self taught doll sculptor from Ireland and the heart behind Phil Donnelly Babies.
Originally from Cork she later made her home in the North of Ireland with her husband Damien and their family. Creativity was always at the centre of her life and over time she built a body of work that reached collectors all over the world.
Philomena and Damien met while completing their apprenticeships in Germany. What started there eventually grew into Phil Donnelly Babies a family run business built from home through years of hard work creativity and belief in her work. Philomena focused on sculpting while Damien supported the business side including production sales and distribution.
They have four children Aimee Darryl Ash and Kaiden who were always part of the journey in their own way. Their dog Bailey was also never far away usually keeping them company while work was being done at home.
From Clay to Collectibles
Philomena started teaching herself how to sculpt baby dolls back in 2005. Working from home she began with clay and a few basic tools learning through patience repetition and determination. Everything was made entirely by hand from the beginning.
A simple block of clay would slowly become a tiny sculpt with each detail shaped carefully until it felt right.
Over time her work developed from small one of a kind baby dolls into larger collectible sculptures vinyl reborn kits and silicone babies. Her designs went on to be worked on and finished by reborn artists around the world each bringing their own style to her original sculpt.
Built with Passion Since 2007
Phil Donnelly Babies was officially launched in 2007 allowing Philomena’s work to reach collectors and artists internationally.
The business has always stayed closely tied to her original way of working hand sculpted pieces created from home with a focus on detail realism and expression.
Her babies range from tiny 2.5 inch miniatures right up to 24 inch newborn style sculptures each one designed to feel soft natural and lifelike.
